Opposition to Riverside County, California's Measure "A"

County leaders lack vision.  They see Riverside County's "future" as a trash dump for Los Angeles, as a Cargo Pit for Los Angeles, as a place their underpaid employees can spend hours commuting to for "Affordable Housing" (aka "low income housing").  Big Business can profit from this "future", selling cargo services, selling poorly planned housing tracts, selling freeway "right-of-way" to the County at exorbitant prices. As they accomplish these goals, they will privatize water and make Agriculture impossible! You are being asked to pay for this future!

We see a different future.  Our Riverside County is one with good paying local jobs, with short local commutes, with clean air and blue skies, with adequate water for its citizens.  And, we don't think any more money should be spent on the bankrupt plan behind Measure A.

We listened to the same "County Leaders" in 1988 and Measure "A" passed the first time.  It was supposed to "relieve traffic congestion."  Fourteen years later, traffic is worse, urban sprawl is worse, the roads are worse, smog is worse.  What we got for our money was lots more development and lots more traffic.  The state Legislative Analyst's Office understands this.  Look what California officials said way back in 1998:

"The California Transportation Plan recommends that the state's highest transportation priority should be demand reduction, and its lowest should be construction of new transportation facilities."

This links below will lead you to all sorts of information to help you decide to Vote NO on Measure "A".  We hope you will join us.
