Here
are the steps I used. (Note: it did not work to simply download
the mdk rpms and then click on them. This starts the RPM installer, but
does not address the dependency issues.)
1. GOTO the KDE 3.0.3 Mandrake distro download page. 2. Select the correct distribution. In my case, the 8.2 Mandrake for i586. Note: The kdeutils-development file, which is listed at 7kb did not download correctly. I found another version through the RPM Finder website. (Easy to find with a simple Google Search for the the rpm you are looking for.) 3. Make a new subdirectory on your harddisk. Eg. KDE3.0.3. You may also need the 3.0.1 files. I had already downloaded them. So, I had this sub-tree: KDE3>KDE3.0.3 4. Download all the files to the new subdirectory. 5. Log into your computer as your superuser/admin level. 6. Run "add or remove programs". 7. Add the new subdirectory to the source list (click on 2nd from left at top). In my "tree," it was sufficient to add KDE3, which then picked up the subdirectory. When I added both subdirectories, I ended up with duplicate entries. 8. The upgrades will now be added to your "installable" tree. I selected the choice to view "upgrades" only. I then used the "flat list" and selected the items I wanted to upgrade. Everything worked well. |
