/tmp

For reasons I do not know, OpenSUSE is not set to clear the /tmp files in its default configuration. Nor does the install suggestion this should be modified. Which I knew. But clogged /tmp files can quickly result in very sluggish performance -- which I didn't know.

It hasn't been that long since my recent reinstall and some programs -- such as Firefox and KMail -- were running at a snail's pace.
I decided to clear the /tmp files and the problem was solved. In the past I have set the configuration to delete /tmp files, but on the recent install I had not got around to it.
This is set as follows:
Yast>system>sysconfig editor>cron>adjust settings re /tmp files per suggestions. Then run SuSEconfig from an su konsole.
