This is weird.

So, I was using a combination of att roaming (connecting to a hotel wireless across the street) and my blackberry for web access at my remote location. I did not want to spend the $$$ on another high speed connection.
...
As you may recall from an earlier post, I was successful in running all this into my router with one computer and then accessing it with my other computers. Yay!
Sort of. The sort of was the amount of time I was wasting dealing with lost and congested connections. Parts of the day the hotel connection was good, parts of the day it was useless. Parts of the day the Verizon blackberry connection was good, other parts of the day it was useless. The Arghhh factor was getting exceedingly high, even though the gee-whiz technology was cool, especially with the frying pan WiFi signal magnifier.
I therefore got a Cox cable connection. All went semi-well, and to Cox Cable's credit they had it set up three days earlier than scheduled.
But here's the weird part. They sent me a splitter and a collection of coax cables. At my primary location, when I had a cable connection (now Uverse) I had splitters and coax running all over the place with no problems.
On the Cox cable, if I connect my modem to the 12" of coax sticking out of the wall, my connection works fine. If I add any additional coax, the splitter, etc. -- no signal. Huh? I tried repeated options and cable combinations, different "resets" of the modem, anything I could think of. No, No and No. Are you kidding me?
This could be a significant problem if I needed tv feed, but since all I have is internet, I merely had to rearrange all of my furniture.
