Now having a [more] satisfactory bluetooth to blackberry connection, it seemed to me that I should be able to make the precise same connection via USB cable. But noooo.
...
After all, step 1 is activate rfcomm0, step two is "use kppp with modem /dev/rfcomm0".
It should therefore be equally simple to activate something like /dev/usb/usbtty0 or something and then use kppp.
Not until I stumble across some better informed article. There are two systems that seem to work: Barry, which uses a script to redirect the blackberry modem to stdin stdout; and Berry4All, which apparently uses a perl script to create a device and connection. If I can have "rfcomm connect 0", why can't I have "usbcomm connect 0" and then use usbcomm0 as my modem? Uninformed, yet inquiring, minds want to know.
