SCaLE 10x was awesome

As in the past, I worked the KDE booth at the Los Angeles SCaLE event. (Southern California Linux Expo). I don't get to attend many of the presentations, but the lineup was fantastic and I was able to speak to many of the presenters as they stopped by to see the KDE desktop in action.
...
Shout-out to OpenSUSE (who helped us out with some live DVDs to hand out, and as you know from this blog it's the distro I use). To Ubuntu, various BSD distro guys. To linuxastronomy.com -- their booth was next to ours, fascinating to watch all the linux driven servo/step motors, turntables and other equipment designed to focus various telescopes, binoculars, camera lenses, etc. on the heavens (or across the room, anyway). To QT, who was running some sort of treasure-hunt that involved getting a card stamped at all the booths (such as KDE) displaying software written on QT. To HP, which was a huge sponsor (and WebOS, because the lady next to us at linuxastronomy won a tablet in their raffle!) To Ubuntu's OpenStack Cloud Server implementation, because I came away with a quick install so I can get up and running. To gator.com, because if Austin, TX were not so far from San Diego I would be submitting my job app.Hey, I will even shout out to Mr. Unix Programmer Guy, who stops by every year to tell me KDE does not provide the desktop experience he wants and that "our" culture is not user friendly so we are not going to make the big-time. It's always a fun conversation anyway.
And to all the great SCaLE volunteers who make it happen.
If you are an open source techie and in the L.A. area, you really do need to stop by SCaLE. But, you will have to wait for 11x a year from now ...
