opSU Goliath1 and David1

Well, with some monkeying around, I finally got a version of david1 (live USB LXDE) to actually run.
...
Way more work than building Goliath because I couldn't seem to get it to startx. To make it work I had to boot the live USB install (but adding option "3" so I would boot to a command line), then logging into root, running lxdm, logging out and finally logging in as the "tux" user. Then, by running the non-graphical YAST, I was able to set the displaymanager to lxdm -- and now it will work. But to be clear, this is the torture that would be necessary for each newly burned flash drive, I didn't somehow solve the problem and then re-export it back to OpenSUSE Studio!Of course, it doesn't have any software to speak of in the package and I don't understand how it is the official Live KDE CD has way more software in less space.
Whatever.
I then installed 12.1 to my Acer Aspire One 722 from the current version of Goliath1, which is better than installing from the official version or across the internet ... so progress is made. Of course, there are still issues, such as having to install printers and scanners. Plus, it occurred to me that although the USB stick needs to be ready for "whatever" hardware, I can remove firmware, etc. I don't need on this particular computer once the install is done.
Unfortunately, I was using the version in which I was still trying to install the "wrong" version of gscan2pdf from the illuusio repository. Fortunately, I was able to uninstall that one and "rebuild" a new version from the source rpm -- as I suggested might prove possible, based on my recent test on 11.4.
Yes, it works. However, I needed a 12.1 install to run the rebuild, so I have only just uploaded the rpm to goliath1 and it is not yet incorporated into the Live USB thing. So, I don't know if it will be working or not. At least it is working on my Acer, and that is encouraging.
I note that the Acer is not loudly beeping when I plug in the power, as it was doing in 11.4. But, OTOH, I have vanished the synaptik touchpad control (have to use gsynaptics) and hibernate and sleep have seemingly become a thing of the past in my version of the install.
So .... still far to go, but encouraging progress -- plus, I am visualizing the necessary architecture to readily combine personalized data with a more generalized install.
Yay...progress!
