opensuse openoffice 3.0.1 bork
By basd on Jan 31, 2009 | In opensuse
Imagine my surprise when I went to do my actual work today -- and OpenOffice would no longer open.
...
It wouldn't open after rolling back the most recent changes. It wouldn't open with reinstalling the new installs.
Arrgh!!!
After awhile, I found the "answer" in an OpenSUSE forum. Oh, I tried the various "shortcuts" -- but as it worked out, it was necessary to fully remove all of the OpenOffice packages via YAST, double-check the open office repositories (I think they were correct, but it's a good idea to have both the OpenOffice.org:Stable and :Extras) and then REINSTALL all over again.
Making certain not to install any 3.0.0 files. It seems that the updater does not properly remove 3.0.0 files -- and they conflict with the new 3.0.1 files.
Problem solved, more lost productivity. But anyway now you know what I know.
