networkmanager - oh, that explains THAT

This link tells me everything I need to know as to why NetworkManager is not working for me.  Of course, I don't understand it, or rather, this seems to apply to DIY NetworkManager installs, so WTF is going on with my distro?

Because, let's see.  Information sources says I am running 0.7.  Yast says I am running 0.8.  A number of NM addons claim to be running various editions of 0.9.  Incompatibilities, ya think?
