So, david1, my "small" lxde flash drive install, is now functional at ver. 0.0.8. It is very bare bones and takes a bit of first-run setup.I ran it on the AMD based (and broken) Gateway LT3101u. I used a 4 gb flash drive.

when i last left the zd7000 it was working. Running KDE 4.7 plasma. Linux kernel 3.0.something. What a difference a week makes.
