kdomows to the rescue (again.)
By basd on Jan 10, 2009 | In Welcome
I have not posted about kdomows for a while, because I haven't used it. But, seeing as it WILL connect the wireless, that is a good thing. My regular readers -- consisting of a flotilla of search 'bots -- will remember that kdomows is a hybrid of kde / gnome / windows. And the nice thing is that I have it set up with a look & feel that approximates my actual KDE 4 desktop.
...
This was very important several iterations ago, when the plasma desktop crashed almost every time I ran updates.
One of the problems with KDE 4 maturing is that I become reliant on it, which means I don't use kdomows, which means I forget about it.
It also means that changes to KDE 4.2 and my setup inject differences into the two desktops. (Keeping them the same means less headaches when I switch from one to the other.)
Under my current set of updates, there is some issue with compiz, which I was aware of when the updates ran. So, unfortunately, the fusion-icon won't run & I can't easily switch windows managers. (Normally I run Gnome on top of KWin in my Kdomows setup.)
But, anyway, it's nice to know that I can still get the wireless to connect while using all of my regular software.
Now, elite team of programmers in the OpSu/KDE world, may I please have my connection back in KDE?
(And then again, as I mentioned in the last post, it may be a problem with a corrupted setup file, in which case there will be no repair until I do a clean install. Whaaaaa!)
