goliath1 0.0.8 and other annoyances

Still trying to conquer this Build Studio thing. Goliath1 0.0.8 still won't do "first run" on my AMD based Aspire One, thought it might since I ran the first run of 0.0.7 on my AMD Gateway. And now onto the broken stuff.
...
DavMail won't work in the install I did FROM Goliath1 0.0.7. Don't know why, but it keeps crashing. Not sure if this is a 12.1 problem or something to do with my setup. I have one netbook installed with 12.1 from the official Live version, and one installed from Goliath1.I was hoping to get the touchpad module working by doing away with version inconsistencies or something, so I reduced/changed the Goliath1 repositories to the Tumbleweed set (except as needed for software that would then go missing). However, I seem to have ended up with the wrong Tumbleweed repository and for whatever reason my build used its gtk2, which is an older version than the one built from? I have no idea what the issue is/was, but on my flash drive install I fixed it by switching gtk2 to the OpSu 12.1 standard repository. But, I didn't see a "version" choice in Yast under gtk2 and I didn't see gtk2 in the standard repository, so I selected the opensuse-branding for gtk2 (sorry, I forget the precise package name). That installed the correct version of gtk2 and so now gscan2pdf will run from my flash drive install. Didn't try DavMail yet -- I assumed it would run as it works on my other computers and it is a self-contained Java set of packages. However, as mentioned, I now discover it is broken on my one netbook, so maybe I made one of those famous foolish assumptions.
Later: Wrong, Brown Bear. Gscan2Pdf will not run ... even though it runs from the version I installed FROM goliath1. DavMail has issues too. It seems that the KDE SuseStudio template is lacking a lot of the packages and programs that are in a normal desktop install, so I have been having to do a lot of trial and error to come up to speed. Also, that means I am packing in extra packages that may not be necessary, because I am comparing the YAST rpm list on running non-Goliath1 installs. Wow. Lot'o'work...
The two things I have not been able to solve (that I am aware of) in Goliath1 or even in the install I did from Goliath1 are (1) no hibernation/sleep; and (2) touchpad module doesn't work. I thought I was starting in Suse Studio with the official Live version -- in which these things DO work, but that must not be the template. I've had to add the wireless packages, for instance.
If you are playing along, "first-run" is really, really slow. Then again, on my AMD Acer, "first-run" is "never." The way I tell the difference (so far) is that if the flash drive is blinking, it's still doing something and worth waiting for. If it's not blinking, the install has crashed, so first-run will have to be on a different computer.
So, b2fdb. (back to the drawing board).
