Jason Kasper expressed his disdain for "old, sweaty, balding dude[s]" as excess baggage in the open source world. How quickly the younger generation is prepared to jettison the older one. Jason has seemingly invented both KDE4 and open source all by himself.
Anne-Marie Mahfouf notes that a lot of plasma crash reports are useless because the reports are from computers not running the necessary debug packages, and points us to this link:

She also suggests that if plasma crashes, you try creating a new user. This seems a bit counter-productive to me, since you lose all of the other data that might be in your user account -- and could leave your computer with a substantial trail of discarded user accounts. I've noted other recovery techniques, such as logging in with a different desktop and deleting the .kde4 config directory (or .kde4 itself). Yes, you have to re-customize the desktop, but at least you still have all your user info.
KOffice and KMail are reporting substantial improvements on the horizon, with a big release for KOffice 2.0 coming up.
