dropbox oops

So, one of the issues in synchronizing my lxde panels is having the right icons. Not all of the computers have the same set of icons. I decided to solve this problem by actually keeping a folder of icons in the dropbox collection so that every computer will have the icons I have selected for the .desktop files.
...
This lacks flexibility in the sense that the icons can't automatically change by changing the icon theme, but at least I don't have missing icons.Still, it was tedious finding icons I wanted. So, I thought I would be smart and put links to the /usr/share/icons and /usr/share/pixmap folders right into my dropbox. This should create similar links on each of the computers, right?
No, wrong ... dropbox copied ALL OF the files in the linked folders. Which could be useful in an appropriate situation. But in this instance, not so much. There are a whopping number of icon/pixmap files.
Or, as we say here, "oops!"
