air and crashes

I switched from Oxygen to Air as a desktop theme and I am actually using the green background
...
I've always used plain black background, but the widgets and panels look better with the green background and not particularly good with black.
I'm successfully maintaining three plasma panels, with a good number of icons, at 20 pixel width. That part is all good.
The computer has taken up locking up from time to time. Sometimes it just gets the "slows" -- meaning it will finish the task in awhile, we just don't know when "awhile" will be. Then other times it locks up altogether.
This can be inconvenient, since the last lockup happened while I was downloading a file from the courts. I get to download it once for "free" and then I have to pay for it. I wasted my once free without getting the file, the computer locked up -- and then I have to pay for the file. Dang.
I haven't figured out which program is causing this -- if in fact it is a specific program rather than the underlying operating system and/or desktop.
And that's the news.
(I haven't had much to complain about, since everything is more or less working; and I have been working on a website revision using Joomla.)
