about that suspend feature ...

KDE/OpenSuse 11.2 power management is a bit iffy. My Gateway netboot won't suspend to ram -- but it WILL suspend to hard drive.
My Sony Vaio will [usually] suspend to ram, but won't suspend to hard drive.
...
And then yesterday, the Sony pretended to suspend, but for some reason ramped the cpu up to 100% and tried to fry itself. I have no idea why -- and I did not notice for about six hours, whereupon I noticed the fan was running frantically (and upon re-login, I discovered the temp. was up to about 160 F! Yikes!
And in other news, help Santa Monica CA avoid traffic gridlock -- never go there! They are handing out "up to $500" gridlock tickets to tourists by the gazillions. They've got foot patrolmen stationed at some of the intersections, handing out tickets to ... virtually everyone, since their traffic is so bad, someone is stuck in the intersection on every light. As they don't really want any tourists, don't go there! I can recommend lots of better places to visit all up and down the California coast anyway (and technically, I was not "obstructing" any traffic, it was the car behind me ...).
